Description

Continuing the walk, you will head to the Mashtots Hayrapet Church (12th–13th centuries), dedicated to the Catholicos of Armenia Mashtots Yeghivardets. The walls are decorated with medieval inscriptions, rosettes, and in the courtyard there are preserved khachkars and donation inscriptions. The third point of the route is the Symphony of Stones, a true miracle of nature. This wall of basalt columns was created by volcanic processes and resembles a harmonious arrangement of musical instruments. The hike ends with the pearl of Armenia’s pagan heritage, the pagan temple of Garni, built in the first century AD and dedicated to the Sun God Mihr.
