Start your day with a harmonious blend of history and nature. The hike begins at 09:00 AM from the central square of Garni. The first stop is the Khumarazham Basilica (4th–5th centuries), a rare architectural monument. Locals call it the “Humble Church.” This single-nave structure with a southern vestry and columned hall reflects the spiritual depth of ancient Armenia.
Next, we visit the Mashtots Hayrapet Church, built in the 12th–13th centuries and named after Catholicos Mashtots Eghivardetsi. Medieval inscriptions and botanical motifs can still be seen on its walls.
The following stop is the world-famous Symphony of Stones, where towering basalt columns rise like the walls of a concert stage. We then cross the medieval Arched Bridge (11th–12th centuries) and pass over the Azat River.
From there, we enter the Khosrov Forest State Reserve and continue from the checkpoint with a special tourist vehicle through lush forest paths and along the river to the Brotherhood Spring. The hike then resumes toward the Vahagn and Astghik waterfalls. The trail is rich with diverse vegetation and scenic paths. At the waterfalls, we’ll pause for a photo session and enjoy tea, coffee, and village bread.
Return to Garni is via the same route, by 5:00 PM.
